Resources
Official tools and sources
The government pages we use every day: case status, court addresses, payment portals, forms and the law itself. Every link goes to an official source.
Immigration court
- EOIR automated case information
Look up your case by A-number. EOIR says hearing notices are the official source, so keep yours.
- Immigration court listing
Addresses, phone numbers and hours for every immigration court.
- EOIR Payment Portal
Where immigration court fees are paid. Checks and money orders are no longer accepted.
- EOIR Policy Manual
The court's own rules for filings, deadlines and hearings.
- Board and Attorney General decisions
Published precedent decisions, including the ones this blog writes about.
USCIS
- Form I-589
The asylum application, its current edition and instructions.
- Form I-765
The work permit application. Check the edition date before you file.
- Form I-485
The green card application for asylees after one year.
- Fee schedule (Form G-1055)
USCIS's list of fees. It can lag behind a new fee rule, so check the Federal Register too.
The law itself
- Asylum statute, INA 208
8 U.S.C. 1158, the asylum law.
- Asylum regulations, 8 C.F.R. part 208
The current regulations. For the BIA deadline, see our post: the online text still prints a vacated rule.
- Federal Register
Where new immigration rules and fee changes are published.
We do not control these sites. If a link moves, tell us and we will fix it.
Your case is not a blog post
Have a hearing date, a denial, or a deadline coming up?
Talk it through with an attorney who reads these rules every week. Bring your notice, your I-589 and any letters from USCIS or the court.
